VOLUSIA DEPUTIES SEARCH FOR MISSING 86-YEAR-OLD DELTONA WOMAN

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating an 86-year-old woman who wandered away from her home in Deltona Wednesday morning.

Hazel Robbins was reported missing by her son at 10:16 a.m. According to the son, Robbins -- who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and congestive heart failure -- was home at 6 a.m., but walked away from their residence at 1107 Hastings Drive sometime afterwards.

The son called the Sheriff’s Office after he drove around the neighborhood and couldn’t find his mother.

More than a dozen patrol deputies, assisted by a K-9 unit, investigators and Sheriff’s Office helicopter, are searching for Robbins and checking area businesses, parks and cab companies.

Postal and sanitation workers also have been alerted to keep an eye out for Robbins, and recorded messages have been sent out to area residents.

Robbins is 5’6” and weighs about 105 pounds and has gray hair pulled back in a ponytail, hazel eyes and a fair complexion.

She was last seen wearing light gray sweatpants, a darker gray, short-sleeve cotton t-shirt, gray moccasins and glasses. Anyone who spots Robbins is asked to call 911 immediately.
