DELAND COUPLE FOUND DEAD IN APPARENT MURDER-SUICIDE

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery Wednesday morning of two bodies found inside a home on Glenwood Road west of DeLand.

The victims are an adult man and woman, and their deaths are believed to be the result of a murder-suicide.

The names of the victims are being withheld until their identities can be confirmed and family members notified of their deaths.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Glenwood Road after the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 6:23 a.m. from a man who told a dispatcher that he had just shot his wife and was about to kill himself.

The man said both he and his wife had been in pain and didn’t want to go through it anymore.

The dispatcher tried to keep the man on the phone, but he refused and hung up about 97 seconds into the call.

Responding deputies made entry into the house at approximately 6:48 a.m. and found the victims dead.
